Nebraska residents find way to combine love of flowers, food

This month, at the University of Nebraska Kearny West Campus, flower lovers will have the opportunity to taste some delicious foods infused with flavors extracted from blooming plants, according to ABC.

Attendees at the 18th annual Edible Flowers Tea will be treated to a demonstration, tea tasting, recipe booklet and tour of the Frank House and its surrounding gardens, in addition to tasting flowery foods such as Marigold muffins.

Those in attendance will also learn about how to include flowers in their daily diet, and how to identify varieties that are not safe to consume.

"My favorite flower recipes are lavender and rose petal angel food cake, and lavender ice cream, of course," Gloria LeDroit, Frank house Friends member, told the news source. "We host the event, so people know that not only do flowers have a great color and smell, but they are also good for your body."

If you plan on whipping up some of these tasty treats for a loved one, be sure to send over the baked goods with a vibrant bouquet to color their day. What better way to enjoy a snack than to gaze at an elegant floral arrangement featuring some of the same edible petals as you are enjoying?
