TELEFLORA AND MEMBER FLORISTS WORK TOGETHER TO BRING SMILES TO THOUSANDS DURING TELEFLORA’S MAKE SOMEONE SMILE ® WEEK JULY 22– 28

Teleflora Member Florists Donated and Delivered 38,000 Be Happy® Arrangements Nationwide and Raised Funds for the Fisher House™ Foundation

LOS ANGELES (August 10, 2007) – Teleflora, the world’s leading floral service offering the best choice in floral arrangements and convenient same day local delivery, recently supported Make Someone Smile® Week, the floral industry’s leading charitable project. Thousands of Teleflora member florists nationwide rallied together and delivered floral arrangements in the company’s keepsake Be Happy® Mugs along with plush bunnies and balloons.  The mugs were delivered to over 38,000 people, bringing smiles to patients in Veteran’s hospitals, senior citizens living in nursing homes and assisted living homes, those enjoying meals through Meals-on-Wheels programs, patients in rehab centers, children in orphanages and at Sunday School.

Developed by Teleflora in 2000, Make Someone Smile® Week has become one of the floral industry’s most successful cause-related initiatives in North America.  Teleflora donates the keepsake Be Happy® Mugs to its member florists who work with their local wholesalers and growers to secure the flower donations.  More than 5,000 Teleflora member florists and volunteers in 270 cities throughout the United States and Canada gave their time and resources this year. 

 “When the program first started, we delivered smiles to 400 people.  To have delivered over 38,000 smiles just seven years later is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Rich Salvaggio, vice president of industry relations and publications, Teleflora.  “The feedback we receive from the community is positively overwhelming and Teleflora is proud to give back to the local communities in which our member florists live and work.”

 “We established Make Someone Smile® Week with the objective of providing joy through the gift of beautifully designed and hand-delivered flowers in a cheerful container,” said Tom Butler, Chairman, Teleflora.  “And we are thrilled by the continued turnout of support for this worthwhile cause from our Teleflora member florists who personally create and deliver each and every Teleflora arrangement.  Without them, this program wouldn’t be possible.” 

This year, as part of its community efforts, Teleflora partnered with the Fisher House™ Foundation, a private-public partnership that donates "comfort homes" built on the grounds of major military and Veterans Association medical centers, that allow family members to be close to a loved one hospitalized for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.  Whenever a Be Happy® arrangement was purchased online at Teleflora.com during July, Teleflora made a donation to Fisher House™ Foundation, raising over $4,500.
