The elegant calla lily has been the muse of artists for centuries. The word Calla is derived from the Greek, meaning "beautiful." Not surprisingly, the glorious trumpet-shaped flower is tied to magnificence and beauty and is a traditional symbol and gift of marriage. The white calla lily flower is very popular with brides because of its beauty and it defines purity and elegance.
White is the most common color of the calla lily flower but it is also found in other colors such as red, yellow, burgundy, pink, orange and purple/black. The Calla Lily (Zantedeschia Aethiopica) has a common name that has caused much confusion, being that it is neither a true Calla (Calloideae) or Lily (Lilium). Nevertheless it shares attributes with both of its namesake.
