Teleflora Kicks Off 2005 Make Someone Smile Week; Florists Nationwide to Participate in Community Outreach Program

LOS ANGELES (May 19, 2005) – Teleflora, the world’s leading floral services and product company, announced today its plans for the company’s 2005 Make Someone Smile Week program, the industry’s leading benevolent project. Make Someone Smile Week enlists thousands of Teleflora florists nationwide to deliver floral arrangements in the company’s keepsake Be Happy® mugs to those most in need of a smile: hospital patients, children at foster-care facilities, residents of nursing homes and others. This year’s program will run from July 17 through July 24.

Developed by Teleflora in 2003, Make Someone Smile Week has grown to become one of the floral industry’s most successful cause-related initiatives in North America. Last year’s program spanned 300 cities throughout the United States and Canada, and involved 2,300 florists who donated 25,000 hours of their time. Teleflora’s program delivered 17,000 floral arrangements to those in need of a smile. The success of the 2004 program – in terms of those involved and arrangements produced -- marked nearly a 50% increase from the previous year. This year Teleflora expects a similar increase, a testament to the program’s powerful objective of helping those less fortunate by giving them something to smile about through the magic of flowers that are beautifully designed by a local florist.

"The positive feedback from throughout the industry and local communities has been phenomenal since we launched Make Someone Smile Week in 2003. Teleflora is committed to giving back to the community, and this program is one way we can do that."

Teleflora will work with its national network of Units, who in turn work with local wholesalers and growers to secure flower donations. Teleflora will donate all of the keepsake Be Happy® mugs. The Units, along with thousands of Teleflora member local florists, then create lovely floral arrangements in the mugs and distribute them to local hospitals, charities and organizations.
