Food Bank For New York City Tenth Annual Can-Do Awards Dinner for hunger-relief
On a warm Tuesday evening at the famed Cipriani Wall Street, the Food Bank for New York City raised $1.4 million for hunger-relief at its 10th Annual Can-Do Awards Dinner.
The Food Bank is the city's major hunger-relief organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs. The 2012 dinner honored Barilla, NY State Senator Liz Krueger and The River Fund New York for their work. Emceed by Stanley Tucci, co-chaired by Mario Batali and Susan Cahn, the night also included special guests Mayor Bloomberg, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick and a special musical performance from Bush.
More than 700 people joined Mario to support the Food Bank's fight against hunger, including: , Michael Stipe, Wendy Williams, Oliver Platt, Patricia Clarkson, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Westfeld, Jill Hennessey, Richard Belzer, Rachael Ray, Gail Simmons, Talia Balsam, Iron Chefĺs Geoffrey Zakarian, and others including Teleflora, the official floral sponsor.
Kyra and Kevin took the stage for 10 minutes and spoke about hunger and the important work of the Food Bank. Teleflora member florist, Macres 30th St. Florist and her team, created beautiful one-of-a-kind floral arrangements that graced every table.
