The best practice is to weed a little bit each time, and to do so often. The small weeds are better to take out because it disturbs less soil and there is a higher chance that weed seeds will end up back on the surface with the larger plants. In addition, corn gluten can be a gardener's best friend as it prevents annual weed seed germination once applied to a bed. Mulch can also be a useful tool to get it away from the sun, the news source reports.

According to the Barnstable-Hyannis Patch, weeding is inevitable, and sometimes it is important for people to change their attitude towards it, especially when they hate the task. The Patch suggests viewing it as a form of meditation to enhance the chore.
