The annual Southport Flower Show kicked off spring with a display of seasonal flowers and gardening landscape competitions this past weekend in Churchtown, England. The popular local event was considered an overall success, according to the Southport Vistor.

The show, which was hosted by the Southport Chrysanthemum and Gardening Society, featured several different competitions, including spring flower displays, craft and floral art designs. The early spring day also held raffles, allowing patrons to join in on the prizes.

In addition, daffodils were the signature flowers of the show, according to the news source.

"The highly competitive daffodil championships provided a glorious sight of golden flowers and was one of the highlights of the show," Alan Foxall, society secretary, said to the news source.

This was not the only show to feature a variety of flowers this month. The Flower and Garden Show at Hagerstown Community College in Maryland was held March 15 and 16. The show displayed different flowers and gardening landscapes to offer people ideas for their homes this summer, according to the Herald Mail.
