New Year celebrated with flower fairs
by
webdev
January 28, 2011
The traditional new year passed nearly a month ago, but the Chinese and Lunar New Year are still prompting many to celebrate around the world. In San Francisco, a number of flower fairs have been set up to commemorate the holidays, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.
Shoppers may be encouraged to
send chrysanthemums online
after seeing the elaborate decorations at the Chinese New Year Flower Market Fair, which will also include orchids, snapdragons narcissus and peach blossoms. There will also be entertainment in the form of lion dancing, Chinese opera and martial arts displays.
The San Francisco Botanical Society is offering visitors another way to catch a glimpse of beautiful buds before spring with a flower festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year, which will take place on Saturday, January 29. The venue will be accompanied by educational sessions, tea tasting, food and crafts, making it the ideal activity for shoppers looking for a little fun and
affordable flowers
.
For those on the East Coast, the largest flower show in New England is scheduled to take place from February 24 to 27, offering visitors a chance to see over 5,000 different types of flowers, according to South Coast Today.
