Despite the desert climate, flowers will be on display at the upcoming Nevada Garden Club in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The club holds an annual fall show with a theme. This year all of the floral arrangements are centered around the motif "At the Movies." Attendees will be treated to bonsai gardens, rose displays, herbal plants and even well-cared-for vegetables and fruits.

The show will also be a competition for some of the community's top flower designers. Judges will examine some of the floral arrangements for for their cleanliness, health and how hard the designer worked to make a plant thrive in the desert climate of Nevada.

The public is encouraged to enter the contest. Those who participate are encouraged to make good usage of desert flowers. Many of the blossoms boast interesting colors and shapes, such as the hummingbird trumpet and the turpentine bush.

According to the Nevada Center for Biological Diversity, one of the most beloved flowers in the the Silver State is the Las Vegas Buckwheat. The flowering shrub would make an excellent addition to a desert-themed bouquet of cut flowers.
