Meg Whitman uses flowers in campaign for office

Meg Whitman, who is running for Governor of California, has announced that she will use flowers as a symbol of her campaign.

Whitman, a republican candidate, will be offering female supporters of her campaign decals bearing the state flower - the poppy. The stickers will be sent to anyone who signs up with the MEGaWomen coalition, Whitman's effort to gather support from female voters, according to FresnoBee.com.

In an email announcing the move, the politician wrote, "With the primary behind us and the general election ahead, my goal is for California's dynamic women to take action. By joining the MEGaWomen we can make the Gold State great again."

The poppy is the central image in Whitman's campaign. According to her website, the blossom embodies everything the woman loves about California, its "prosperity, renewal, [and] unity."

Poppies can add a delightful splash of color to any bouquet. Many of the varieties produce a pleasant scent, which can help one relax and reduce stress, according to a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
