Madonna "loathes" hydrangeas
September 06, 2011
Madonna recently made headlines as a "flower hater" after she expressed her dislike for a hydrangea given to her by a fan at a press conference, according to CNN.
The Material Girl, appearing at the Venice Film Festival to speak about her upcoming movie, W.E., was handed a bouquet of hydrangeas from a fan. She thanked the fan for the flowers, then quickly stowed them under the table and turned to the woman beside her and glared - expecting her to understand her hatred of the flower, according to E!.
After her glare, she turned to someone on the other side of her and expressed her distaste for the bloom.
"I absolutely loathe hydrangeas," she said. "He obviously doesn't know that."
The episode, which was captured on video and uploaded to YouTube, elicited a reponse from her representative. "She’s entitled to like any flower she wants and she didn't want to hurt the feeling of the hydrangeas of the world...No disrespect to the hydrangeas lovers of the world but she prefers different types of flowers," the rep told CNN.
Instead of the poofy blooms of the hydrangea, Madonna fans may want to opt for a bouquet of roses or a mixed flower arrangement for the pop icon.
