Lady Gaga brings sunflowers to a friend in NYC

August 09, 2011

Lady Gaga is certainly one to set trends, and she did just that with sunflowers last night. The pop star was seen carrying a blooming bouquet of the seasonal flowers in New York City as she made her way to a friend's house, reports.

Sunflowers are a perfect gift this time of year, as they are in season in gardens across the country as well as in the massive fields of them that paint the Midwest yellow. Recognized for its cheery beauty, the flower is also cultivated as a crop for its oil and seeds. Giving sunflowers in August can also be a tribute to Vincent Van Gogh, who painted the famous composition of the bloom in August 1888 in France before Paul Gaugin came to visit, according to The Chronicle.

Gaga's gorgeous bouquet seemed to be accented with simple deep leafy greens. However, paired with the also-in-season yellow lilies or snapdragons, a bouquet of sunflowers is sure to brighten up the recipient's day. Roses can add an elegant touch or offer a rural look to a country style floral arrangement.
