Honor a veteran with flowers this Memorial Day

Many recognize Memorial Day by buying and wearing small red poppies to honor veterans.

These Memorial Day poppies are handmade by veterans receiving rehabilitative treatment in Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals. They are sold by volunteers who accept donations for the flowers.

According to VFW.org, for more than 75 years the sale of these poppies has raised millions of dollars in support of veterans' welfare and the well-being of their dependents.

While many observe Memorial Day by buying a poppy, attending parades and other observances, some choose to send Memorial Day flowers to a person who has served in the U.S. military.
