Holiday flower gift ideas
by

Poinsettias have long been a classic go-to for holiday
flower arrangements
, and they've remained that way for good reason. For those of you aiming to shoot outside the box this year, here's a few other suggestions for blooms that go well with the wintry climes.
Ellen Goff of ABC2News.com recommends giving small potted pines or evergreens as a gift that will sustain itself long after the season's end. Other
florists
told Goff they see a high demand for cut flowers and
plants
around the holidays, which could include anything from poinsettias to hanging geraniums and impatiens, bromeliads, narcissus, citrus trees, amaryllis, orchids and hydrangeas.
GardenGuides.com suggests any flowers in red and white will do for a holiday
bouquet
. Arrange the blooms with a few sprigs of green foliage, and if you're feeling adventurous, try wrapping the
bouquets
in gift paper and ribbon.
For your own home, decorate rooms with flower displays featuring pine, eucalyptus, roses, lilies, daisies or carnations, the website recommends. Pine cones and candles are also a traditional component of holiday decor, though they're still a departure from poinsettias.
