Gift spending for Father's Day

by webdev

June 02, 2011

A new report from the National Retail Federation (NRF) suggests that dads everywhere can look forward to more than just a homemade card and a t-shirt for Father's Day this year.

The organization is forecasting that individuals will increase their spending on Father's Day gifts this year by about $10.

"Shoppers seem to be more excited when it comes to gift giving, an encouraging sign for retailers - and dads - everywhere," said Matthew Shay, NRF president.

Kids are expected to spend an average of $106.49 on their fathers this year, according to the NRF. That's up from average gift spending of $94 in 2010. In total, Father's Day spending is expected to be about $11 billion.

While many children choose to give their dads traditional gifts such as ties, electronics and sporting goods, many also choose to show their fathers how much they mean to them by sending Father's Day flowers.

Options for father's day gifts include playful arrangements that come in special keepsake containers to terrific live plants and totally fun (and often yummy!) gift baskets.

Whether you know your dear old dad's favorite type of flower or not, there are countless gift options available that will touch his heart and bring a smile to his face, especially when accompanied by a heartfelt note.
