The Helmsley and District Rotary Club will gather at the Castle Howard's Arboretum in Yorkshire, England, in hopes of setting a new world record for planting the most crocus bulbs, reports the Gazette & Herald.

Along with volunteers, member of the clubs will also raise funds to fight polio. The event is known as Focus on the Crocus, and goes beyond the arboretum - many people will be planting flowers in the UK in the next few weeks.

"The current Guinness World Record is 331 people each planting five bulbs and we're sure we can do better as a number of people have already registered," club president Laura Coates told the news source.

Over the course of a few weeks, more than five million bulbs will be planted throughout the UK. There will be another festival on February 23, the club's anniversary, which will also raise funds to fight polio.

Purple flowers can add a burst of color to a bouquet of cut flowers. If you're sending flowers online, consider including butterfly bush, lilacs or hibiscus, as all of these are purple in hue, according to DGreetings.com.
