Flowers on display at Pennsylvania mall

September 23, 2010

In the Plymouth meeting Mall in Plymouth, Pennsylvania, shoppers were treated to a variety of floral displays created by The Norristown Garden Club.

The show includes 353 exhibits put together by 98 flower enthusiasts. The theme for this year's show was Flower Power, and many of the exhibits are centered around styles from the 1960s and 1970s, according to Montgomery Media.

The garden club has hosted the annual fall flower show for over six decades. Pat Wolanski has chaired the event for the past four years, and was also the one who came up with this year's theme.

"I was driving to the mall for last year's show and it just popped into my head...it got everyone's attention," Wolanski told the news source.

In addition to the cut flowers, there were exhibits for children, educational displays and a brand new exhibit titled "Jackies' Jewels," a series of jewelry created entirely out of plant materials.

During the fall, it's easy to enjoy the vibrant blossoms flowers that you may have grown accustomed to over the summer months by ordering a bouquet for your home. AboutFlowers.com suggests combining water in a vase with plant food to keep your flowers fresh.
