Flowers: Look so good you could eat them?
by

Many people love the way that a floral arrangement or flowering plant looks gracing the dinner table or counter top. But gracing the food itself? There are certain flowers that can spruce up the look of a prepared meal that will taste good, too, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
Rose petals are a classic choice to garnish ice cream, desserts or salads. They will look pretty no matter what, but they will taste better if crusted with sugar, the news source reports. To do this, dip them in egg whites, dab with a paper towel, then coat in castor sugar and let them air dry overnight. Make sure to cut away the bitter white part of the petals before using them in a dish.
Lavender is another popular choice for food. Their flavor is just as sweet as their scent, and they make a lovely addition to scones, cupcakes or shortbread. They also work well to garnish drinks with, the news outlet points out. Nasturtium leaves make good ruffage, adding a peppery flavor to a bed of greens, while their blooms add a gorgeous color.
Of course, having flowers in the food is no replacement for a gorgeous bouquet of roses or

on the table for decoration.
