Flower lovers gear up for Rhode Island Flower Show
by
webdev
February 17, 2011
The 19th annual Rhode Island Flower show will take place from February 24 through February 27 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence.
The theme of this year's show is "Gardening with Heart."
According to SouthCoastToday.com, show organizers are teaming up with the American Heart Association for the event to focus on the health benefits of gardening.
In addition, there will be more than 28 themed gardens on display and 250 garden and flower vendors. In total, the show will feature more than 5,000
flowers
.
The show is the longest running and largest flower show in New England, attracting more than 30,000 attendees each year.
Visitors attending the event can wander the aisles, attend lectures and demonstrations as well as get inspiration for flower gifts and gardens.
Many who go to flower shows, especially during cold winter months, say that viewing the displays and taking in the scents of
fresh flowers
and plants helps to lift their spirits and build excitement for the spring season.
Tickets for the event are $18 at the door for adults. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 years can attend for $7 and kids 5 and under can enter for free.
