Flower arranger delights clients with artistry
by

March 16, 2011
There's no doubt that the ability to arrange
flowers
in a way that creates stunning bouquets, baskets and arrangements is an art form. But one man is taking the artistry of floral arranging a step further.
Anthony Ward, who is known to many as The Flowerman, combines the art of floral arranging with performing to delight audiences.
Since 2002, Ward has been combining his background in ballet and modern dance with his floral arranging talent to create what he calls floral sculptures on stage. Some well-known musicians he's performed with include Bobby McFerrin and Ziggy Marley.
"At first, people are like, 'what the heck?' Then they get it, and they're just totally into it," Ward recently told the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
He calls his performances "spiritual" and says they help to open peoples' hearts.
Ward has also designed fresh flowers for many celebrities including Uma Thurman, Madonna, Bette Midler, The Dalai Lama and Maya Angelou.
He's known for his offbeat arrangements, which can measure 30 feet tall.
But for Ward, working with
fresh flowers
isn't just a job. He says that floral arranging fills his soul and that the flowers he works with are "blessings."
