by

August 24, 2010
Flower enthusiasts will have two chances to showcase their arrangements at the North Carolina Mountain State Fair this September, according to MountainX.com.
The shows will be hosted by the Buncombe County Master Gardeners, and will feature many categories for perennials, annuals, herbs, shrubs, cut foliage and
flower arrangements
. In addition there will be hundreds of flowers on display courtesy of the Carolinas Dahlia Society, the Blue Ridge Rose Society and the Ikabana Society.
Several informational sessions will be held throughout the event to answer amateur
florists
' questions. Topics will include Growing Herbs, Chrysanthemums, Edibles in Containers and Growing Roses in Western North Carolina (WNC).
"We encourage all WNC home gardeners to enter this show," Pat Barnes, master gardener volunteer, told the news source. "But even if you don't enter, any home gardener will love seeing the beautiful flowers and
plants
at this exhibit."
Floral
arrangers of any age are encouraged to enter. Prizes include ribbons and cash totaling up to $13,000.
North Carolina plays host to a wealth of flowers, including lady slippers, large flowered trilliums, great laurels and blue cohosh, according to NCNatural.com.
