Jeff Leatham, who designed the flowers for the much-anticipated wedding of Chelsea Clinton, recently sat with with Us Magazine to discuss the arrangements present on the big day.

According to Leatham, Chelsea wanted the flowers at her wedding to align with the elegant outdoor setting of her ceremony. She wanted her arrangements to be simple, organic and classy.

He went on to say that Chelsea held a bouquet of white gardenias as she made her way down the aisle, while the men at the ceremony donned Freesia boutonnieres. The canopy that covered the pair as they said their vows matched the surrounding garden and trees.

"It was such an honor to be involved in Chelsea and Marc's day," Leatham told the news source. "Everyone could not have been more kind. When we saw the photo and the look on Chelsea's face, it was absolutely worth it. It was such an honor."

Gardenias make an excellent choice for any bouquet. According to the University of Rhode Island Landscape Horticulture Program, gardenias are a warm weather flower, making them perfect for a spring or summer floral arrangement.
