Creating evergreen accents for a holiday table

by webdev

December 05, 2011

There are a number of ways to adorn your table for parties and other special holiday get togethers, but one of the most classic ways is with candles. Candles add an element of elegance and perfect ambiance to a holiday meal.

Commonly found along with candles in formal settings are bobeches, small glass collars that sit at the base of a candlestick to catch dripping wax. However, if you like to decorate for Christmas with flowers and other greens, Martha Stewart's evergreen bobeches may be the perfect addition to your candles.

To make these miniature wreaths, you need 18 and 22-gauge floral wire and small, equally-sized sprigs of evergreen, boxwood or juniper, or bay laurel leaves. Form a circle of 18-gauge wire and attach one leaf or sprig with the 22-gauge wire. Without cutting the wire, add another sprig of evergreen, overlapping the first, and wrap it securely with wire. Continue this pattern until the circle is complete.

These candle accessories will go perfectly with your favorite Christmas flowers - especially an arrangement that features similar greens, like Teleflora's Holiday Elegance. This bouquet is perfectly festive with red roses accented with sprigs of white pine and holly.
