The 30th annual Connecticut flower show is being billed as having something for everyone - displays full of fresh flowers, bulbs, plants, herbs and seeds as well as seminars, demonstrations and landscaped gardens.

One of the unique attractions at this year's show will feature original floral designs that were inspired by fashion design sketches. According to WTNH-TV, fashion design students from the Farmington, Connecticut, campus of Sanford-Brown College competed to have their designs translated into floral arrangements. The actual garments created from the sketches will be displayed next to each of the floral designs they inspired.

The contest, which was held by the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, is a reminder that flower gifts can be inspired by just about anything. Professional floral arrangers can create stunning arrangements, bouquets or baskets using a picture, piece of fabric, garment or color scheme.

Individuals may also choose to include a custom-designed floral arrangement with any type gift for an added element of surprise. For instance, a brightly colored shirt can be accompanied by a coordinating bouquet to really wow the recipient.

The Connecticut Garden Show is being held at Hartford's Connecticut Convention Center from February 24 through February 27.
