Company reveals Rose Parade float plan
by
webdev
December 01, 2010
Talk about a lot of flowers! The company honored with the "most spectacular" float award for the 2010 Rose Parade is hoping that next year's entry will live up to its past.
Healthcare company Kaiser Permanente has revealed that its float this year is entitled “Purrfectly Healthy” and is a nostalgic look at a momma cat and family playing in a Victorian-inspired garden.
The company says more than 20,000 roses will adorn the 2011 Rose Parade float.
The Victorian-inspired house, vegetable baskets, teeter-totter, trellis and lavish garden will be covered with a multitude of
fresh flowers
, including colorful tulips, iris, delphinium, larkspur, lilies, peony and daffodils.
The message of the float is "thrive," a theme that focuses on healthy eating and an active lifestyle.
The 122nd Rose Parade kicks off on January 1, 2011 at 8 a.m. Pacific Standard Time in Pasadena, California. The theme for this year's parade is "Building Dreams, Friendship and Memories."
Each year, the parade itself will feature majestic
floral
floats, high-stepping equestrian units and spirited marching bands.
It is a rule of the parade that all surfaces of the float frameworks be covered in natural material, such as flowers,
plants
, seaweeds, seeds, bark, vegetables or nuts. In addition, no artificial flowers or
plant
materials are allowed, nor can the materials be artificially colored.
