Celebrate National Boss Day, October 16
by
webdev
October 11, 2010
This October 16, which falls on a non-working Saturday, is National Boss Day.
Happy employees across the country will be acknowledging their hard-working bosses this Saturday, most likely with coffee mugs and flowers. The celebration is an opportunity to say thank you to your supportive bosses.
The day was created by State Farm employee Patricia Haroski who first celebrated Boss Day in 1958. Haroski wrote that she started the tradition in order to pay tribute to bosses, "Reflecting on how my father had helped his white-collar daughters and sons many times with their problems concerning their work, I decided to register his birthday, October 16, as 'The Day,'" according to HappyWorker.com.
To make it an official celebration Haroski registered the day with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. October 16 was later proclaimed National Boss Day by Illinois Governor Otto Kerner, the news source reports.
For those who have bosses who are not enjoyable to work with,
sending flowers
may still be a good idea. Recently, TheStir.CafeMom.com reported that fresh cut flowers are mood enhancers that might stimulate creativity and promote concentration.
