With more sunshine and warm days on the horizon, some people around the nation may be excited to do a little spring cleaning. Whether you're headed for a major renovation, or are simply looking to switch up a few throw pillows or rugs in certain rooms, make sure to complete each style with flowers.
Not only do fresh blooms add instant life to any space, but they can also infuse life and positive vibes. Cathy Barnhart, the floral displays manager at the Biltmore Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina, recently broke down what type of flowers work in specific rooms. With her tips, you can transform your home for the better.
Bring nature in
According to Barnhart, the best place to start when looking to use florals in the home is right outside your window.
"Use what you find in your yard, fields or neighboring woods," Barnhart wrote on the hotel's website.
Sticking to this routine could also help you update your rooms accurately with every season.
For spring, look to use flowers like daffodils, tulips, dogwood, pussy willows, primrose, peonies, lilacs and Lily of the Valley, LovetoKnow Garden reports, since all of these options tend to pop up during this season.
Choose vases wisely
If you're opting to order a gorgeous arrangement of spring flowers from a florist, try to select vases that go well with your home decor. For example, if your home is more modern, selecting a simple glass cube or taller vase may be more appropriate than a wooden basket display.
On the same note, you can always just purchase the bouquet with its current vase and then switch it out for one of your own taste at home. Barnhart reports a great way to have some fun with your flowers is to look for certain objects around your home that could be turned into vases.
For example, placing the flowers in an old watering can or spread out in a few mason jars will add instant charm to your home, while sprucing up the blooms themselves.
Finish with fresh greens (or white accents)
Now that you've figured out what flowers you want to use and have found an appropriate vase, it's time to create the ambiance with fresh greenery. Barnhart recommends selecting either all-green or all-white accents. The latter is quite popular now as the white additions work to make a space look cool and fresh.
