Best ways to celebrate Mardi Gras
by
webdev
February 15, 2012
When you think of Mardi Gras, you probably imagine shades of green, purple and gold, and perhaps some wild partying in good old New Orleans. While the best way to celebrate the holiday is in Nola herself, there are plenty of ways you can spread the spirit of this medieval holiday no matter where you are with a festive party.
Keep the costumes.
Costumes or masks are the best way to set the stage for a super-fun party. Request that all of your guests come to the party masked or in some type of medieval outfit to stick with the carnival's tradition.
Food festivity.
Food is one of the best ways to make a party fun. For Mardi Gras, King Cakes are the traditional food that no party should be without. Each cake should have a tiny plastic baby inside, following the tradition of King Cake Parties that the person who has the baby in his or her slice would host the next party, according to the New Orlean's celebration's official website.
Decor.
Although Mardi Gras had its roots with royals and other noble members of society, the holiday has since turned into a free-for-all known for its plastic beads and flamboyant style. Add a festive arrangement of
holiday flowers
like Teleflora's
Your Majesty
to set the spirited mood.
