Bath to feature in UK floral contest

by webdev

January 13, 2011

The city of Bath will enter as a finalist in the Britain in Bloom national floral contest, according to organizers of the event.

ThisIsBath.co.uk reports that the city's placement in the national finals was not guaranteed by the regional prize it was awarded last year, but the Royal Horticultural Society deemed it fit to run against the other 76 communities vying for prizes on the national scale.

According to the news source, Bath has won 13 national titles in the past, including the one it won the very first year the competition opened 47 years ago.

Those who wish to represent England's grace and charm in the form of a flower gift or fresh flower bouquet may look to include yellow flag irises, violets, sunflowers, primroses and poppies, which are among just a few of England's native wildflowers, according to FoxyIslandWalks.co.uk. Adding some thistle or brambles in place of standard foliage can lend a more authentic, woodsy feel to your display.
