An unusual flower container in Tennessee

A Tennessee man is defending his right to display flowers in his yard in whatever type of container he wishes.

William Terry, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is currently involved in a court fight with his town over an old toilet that serves as a flower pot in his front garden. It is centered in a flower bed of daffodils.

The town has cited the homeowner saying that the display violates the code against accumulating rubbish.

Terry says the commode is a great way to display flowers and to recycle.

"The city doesn't have the right to tell me my flower pot is not a flower pot," Terry told a reporter from The Knoxville News Sentinel.

As the saying goes, "one man's trash is another's treasure."

Spring flowers, such as daffodils, tulips and hyacinths are ideal when displayed in gardens or used in arrangements and bouquets.

Sending these blooms to a friend or family member is a great way to welcome spring and bring a smile to the recipient's face, as studies have shown that receiving fresh flowers instantly improves mood and elicits a positive response.
