30 million flowers at Epcot Festival
by
webdev
February 24, 2011
The 18th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival will feature a number of familiar cartoon characters. Buzz and Woody from Toy Story may be the most noticeable, as they have been completely constructed from colorful
plants
and flowers, according to MagicalKingdoms.com. Other beloved cartoon personalities in attendance will include Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto and Tinker Bell.
There will be more than 30 million buds and other greens involved in the festival, which takes place from March 2 to May 15 at the Walt Disney World Resort. That adds up to 60 different kinds of trees and 25 different plant and
flower types
.
Additionally, 240 floating gardens are scheduled to make their way through the resort. Each one is three feet in diameter and offers a vibrant scene sure to wow the crowd.
Musical acts at the event will hearken back to the days of flower power. Some of the artists performing will be Jose Feliciano, Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Nelsons and Melissa Manchester.
Do-It-Yourself celebs such as HGTV's Vern Yip and Genevieve Gorder will be there as well, offering tips for amateur gardeners who are looking to get a headstart on their own projects.
