Mix and match for a very merry table

by Jacqueline

December 10, 2009

Today's post is from the trend-setting designers known as the MiGi Girls, Michele Adams and Gia Russo. The MiGi Girls and Teleflora are co-creators of a darling line of baby bouquets. Michele and Gia also recently launched a free email lifestyle magazine called Momologie.

By now, you might have guessed we love the look of vintage with a mix of modern touches. The traditions of Christmas serve as the perfect inspiration and a great excuse to explore estate sales, flea markets or antique shops to find classic, yet unique, items for a stunning table. Entertain friends and family with a style that’s all your own.

Select a beautifully ornate fabric in rich holiday colors to make a wide table runner as the starting point for your design. Bring the outdoors in with woods, the colors of the forest and woodland-inspired designs on decorative plates.

A rustic wood tray is perfect for a centerpiece of greenery, berries and assorted fruits. We love a simple optical pattern on stemware to add a nice modern touch and give the table a hint of sparkle as candlelight hits the glass. And brighten up any holiday table with fresh flowers. A Christmas centerpiece from Teleflora is a quick and easy way to add a festive note.

Momologie Tips:

* If you’re lucky enough to have a separate dining room or an area where you can set a large folding table that won’t be disturbed, then you can set it ahead of time so you’re not rushing at the last minute.

* Take out your linens, serving pieces, dinnerware, flatware and centerpiece two days ahead so that you can organize, clean, polish and iron everything to make your table really special.

* Put a Post-It with the name of each menu item on your serving dishes to make sure you have what you need (it’s also a guide for any kitchen helpers.)

* Now is the time to ask a guest to bring any dishes or other items you might be missing so you don’t have to purchase them.
