Celebrate the First Day of Spring

by Nicole

March 19, 2010

It feels like we've been waiting so long, but tomorrow, it's finally here! The first day of spring is tomorrow, March 20, 2010. I'd like to present a little blog round-up of fun ideas to celebrate the transition to longer (and warmer) days ahead!

Teleflora's Spring Showers Bouquet

My favorite idea is one from Abbie Quillen's blog

New Urban Habitat: "Place a bouquet of crocuses, daffodils, tulips or dandelions in your kids' bedrooms while they sleep, so they wake up to fresh spring flowers." So sweet! And what a lovely, exciting to wake up as a kid. :) Abbie's got a boatload of other ideas, as well, on her blog post "Celebrate the First Day of Spring!"

The editors at Marie Claire magazine also have a few ideas to celebrate the refreshing change of season - like making a 'fresh' start on your make-up bag. Spring cleaning isn't the most exciting way I can think of, but it certainly is refreshing when it's done!

Teleflora's Teacup Blossoms

Risa, otherwise known as the ParTea Planner (such a cute name!!), suggests a

spring time tea party with your kids, your friends, your family, whomever you'd like! Her blog post is from 2008, but it's an idea that can be appropriate any year, I think. Set the table with a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers, brew up a pot of your favorite tea, pair with bisquits (cookies to those of us who aren't from the UK), toss on your feather boa and hat (or whatever makes you feel fabulous, of course), and enjoy!

How will you celebrate the first day of spring? Let us know in the comments section!
